Skype 6.0 has been released for Windows and Mac and it is available for download. This latest version comes with biggest changes and Social Media integrations. New features include the ability to log in using either Microsoft or Facebook accounts, so you do not need a Skype account any longer to use the application. Another great improvement is Skype now supports IM conversations with Messenger contacts as well as other Skype and Facebook friends.

You can now sign into Skype using your Microsoft or Facebook account – there’s no need to create a new Skype account. This makes it even easier to connect with friends on Skype without having to set up another account.
[icon name=icon-circle-arrow-right]IM friends on Messenger – Now you can instant message your Windows Live Messenger, Hotmail and Outlook.com contacts via Skype all in one place. If you use a Microsoft account today, merging your accounts is easy – just sign in to Skype with your Microsoft account.
[icon name=icon-circle-arrow-right]Calling with Messenger friends is coming soon – You can make audio and video calls to Windows Live Messenger customers using Skype desktop clients. The feature will be available in coming weeks.
Mac users too get some Mac specific updates, including option to open chats in multiple windows and Retina display support.
If you already have Skype in your desktop, you can update it to latest version by checking for updates from within the program interface by selecting Help → Check for Updates and follow the instructions.
